When we realize that the way we are experiencing things is mixed up with our own interpretations of things and our reactions to our own interpretations, we learn to refrain from taking our own representation for ineluctable realities, and thus reduce our susceptibility to compulsion and obsession. Within the calmness and stability this insight produces, we can distinguish between subjective projections and objective truths.
