I walked into the kids (who I babysit ) Mom’s house yesterday and was so inspired by what I saw! The walls were creatively colorful and there was art work everywhere. There was one Large painting, in her living room, of a town called Jaffa, artist community on a hill, overlooking a harbor in Israel . I made a personal note…… to journey there (let free, my creative self!) She had painted all her walls to match the artwork. Hell yeah! It really brought out the artwork.
And what a way to honor it.
As it turns out, not surprisingly, she is a designer. She says that she tells her clients, “if you are deciding between a couch or a piece of artwork you love, go for the artwork.” It’s good to surround yourself with colors, touches, lines, shapes that inspire you and make you feel good!
I discovered today from Google doodles, that it is Joseph Frank’s 125th Birthday (he dead).
“Frank is also remembered by being one of the most influential in what has become known as the modern Scandinavian design, which is known for its humanist attitude that puts in a pedestal truth, reason and states that salvation is obtained through actions that benefit everybody.
Josef Frank’s legacy includes diverse furniture designs, lamps, metal pieces and more than 160 patterns created between 1909 and 1950, present in the house of countless families. These patterns were inspired by his love of nature and sense of movement. The Google logo celebrates this art with vibrant colors and multi-chromatic composition.”
And then I started wondering. How does one get involved in Design? It is something that has interested me my whole life but I’m not sure what the next step is from gazing at design/architecture books in bookstores!
