I’ve been hanging around one of the marinas lately. Larry took this picture of me, on a tour of the island on his golf cart. This island is so beautiful.
The marina, to me, it is one of those places thats like hidden jewel. Almost nobody knows about it. There I have found a little community full of friendly, adventurous people with all sorts of backgrounds and stories. Last night we sat around playing guitars, accordian and singing pirate songs! One of the fellow’s whom I just recently had a conversation with,is thinking about someday taking kids and corporate workers on their boat,an Outward Bound kind of adventure. I was super excited to hear this! I bet it would be an amazing experience. One of the things that really excited me hearing this, is the marriage of two very different leadership styles. Steve was trained in the army and is a sailor and then his wife, has masters in leadership……..! There are some really neat things churning in the world right now.
Another fellow I met, named Storm (which describes his personality perfectly) is working on fixing up his Catamaran that he built and raced……so he can sell it and take it to Columbia to sell and then start building a pirate ship….to take kids (specifically orphans…he himself was one) out on, show them a side of the world they have had no exposure to.
This picture was taken at Stuart and Chucks house. They’ve got their boat in the marina and have a house on the cliff. Se llama Casa Amarilla porque la casa es amarilla! Por Sopuesto! Their house is like my dream house. The Colors! Thats what really gets me! Its beautiful, with nice open spaces, sweeping views of the turquoise ocean, thick dark woods and all the primary colors. It makes you happy just walking into it. Things just seem to come together perfectly. When I complemented Stuart on it, she shrugged it off. But really, I think you have to have some kind of talent to make it all come together so well. As much as I LOVE making/decorating spaces…..I’m not sure I could make it come together and feel as good as their house feels. They had pictures hanging on their walls from an artist named Jess (check out his website) incredible!
And I got to meet Jess…..a sunny and bright (seeming) individual just like his paintings.
