I decided to pull myself away from the bump and grind and take a couple days to explore Eastern Oregon. Check out some of the views I saw on my trip!

Snowstorm

January 21st, 2007 · La Vida

Last week Portland received about 4 inches of snow……very exciting! Schools were shut down for two days. and I was pleasantly surprised to find it was acceptable not to go to work.

This is Multahnoma falls a scenic waterfall just outside of Portland.
Dan and I went on a sunrise drive on the old historic highway, a beautiful road that weaves through the Grand Columbia valley, with scenic overlooks along the way. We ate breakfast at the restaurant at the base of the falls. We sat next to a warm cackling fire and had an enthusiastic conversation with the couple at the table next to us. They were from Pennsylvania and liked to travel and were especially taken by the beauty of Oregon……..history and trains and the Steelers!

Out we go, back we come
Need Much more time, to mend Contessa’s wounds
I’m ready to stop playing nurse
Back to Portland I go.
Eddie and Mr. Lu stick around, work hard to fix her up. Steve comes down, puts more funds into the project and…………I just heard……
Contessa Made it to Thailand!!!
Many of us held our breath during the passage and were SOO happy to hear they made it!

Me, I’m settling in Portland for awhile, spending time with Dan,
pursuing photography/video interests and doing
whatever work I can so I can earn some money, pay off those dreaded school loans……..and go from there! Looking forward to getting back out in the WORLD!

Not So Much

October 31st, 2006 · La Vida

I’m not sure who’s watching this blog………but I feel the need to say…..No! We didn’t make it! (in case anyone is still holding their breathe thinking we are out at sea!)
The boat was taking in a lot of water and the manual Bilge pump was not working……….To many things could have gone wrong so we turned around and agreed to do yet even MORE repairs.

So, I have much more updatting to do. Stay tuned 🙂

To Thailand we go!

October 2nd, 2006 · La Vida

Oh my gosh, is this really happening!
We are leaving early tomorrow, as long as the weather looks good. Wish us well!
We’ve got the boat provisioned and we checked out at immigration….and we’re off!
Plan is to head to Koh Samui Thailand, however plans can easily change any moment…..!
Here is a photo of our new captain John and the crew. Minus Jeremy, unfortunately who decided to head back to the states and work things out with Aimee.

Engine In!

October 2nd, 2006 · La Vida

Jeremy is coordinating the ‘engine put in process’. It is a tricky operation getting a 400 kilo engine into a little bobbing boat! It took all of us working hard together. And we did it!

And here it is! That is a fantastic picture to anyone involved in the Contessa project!

Jeremy arrives

October 2nd, 2006 · La Vida

Jeremy arrived right as the regatta excitment mellowed out. He came with more engine parts and lots of momentum to get Contessa up and running. Its was great to have him back. This is a picture of Jeremy screwing in the Engine blocks so we could set the engine on them. It was important to get them exactly even, so we didn’t have any trouble with alignment once the engine was in place.
