Trips to the Mountains for the leaves

October 20th, 2011 · La Vida

Fall has been beautiful this year in the mountains and now its come to the city…I love the reds especially.  I have Soo pictures from this year.  Just when I think I’ve had plenty, I see a picture that I cannot resist taking!  This last weekend we took a Motorcycle/Camping trip up to the mountains and I didn’t even bring my camera……which I deeply regretted because the pictures were even better!  One in particular I remember was riding on a little dirt road through an Aspen grove and the yellow leaves blowing off.  It was snowing gold with a sharp blue blue sky as we cruised through on the motorcycles.  Wow!  More photos…..eventually 🙂

Colorado!

Here I am, sporting my new hat Eli bought me in Steamboat Springs. Yeah Steamboat! It's so close to us, we have decided we're going back sooner, rather than later

We were so excited to run into this guy AGAIN. We had seen him at the beginning of our trip in the Tetons and now, 10 days later, here he was! He was as thrilled to see us, as we were to see him. He was in much better spirits, had met up with his friends, was going to the hotsprings, clothes washed..life was good. Talking to him, stirred something in Eli and I. What about doing something like that???

From here it was a push to get home so I could go to work.  We ended up staying in Hot Sulpher Springs and leaving early in the am so I could get to my writing class in Denver by 10:30.  Wow.  That left us riding over Bertha Pass in the freezing rain at 7am. Brrrr.  But we are both very sure that our stay at Hot Sulpher Springs (with little hot springs that go up the hill) were well worth it!

Sad to be home 🙁 .  Love the adventure of traveling, especially by motorcycle!

Heading Home

on the Road

Utah and Wyoming are gorgeous states to ride through. We were quite dismayed at all the oil/gas/mining taking place. It was sad to see the land being charged into so extensively by man.

Missoula and Beyond

September 27th, 2011 · La Vida

Here's my cuz Eric. We visited him in Missoula. Its always exciting to hear what new things he's up to!

Our accomodations in Jackson, Montana. A lodge with hotsprings on the second floor, an open ceiling and then little cabins you can stay in. In the lodge was a big fireplace where I warmed up drank coffee and wrote. It was 20 degrees in the early morning!

Getting gas in Polaris, Montanan. Not surprisingly, a huge snowmobile place! Though you'd never guess from the beautiful day....though it was pretty cold, our coldest day yet.

Taking a break to snap a picture of the Grand Tetons, backside. Amongst wheat fields, Eli taught me that you can pick some of the stalks and chew them and they will turn to gum.

camping in Idaho, south of Driggs. We were thrilled to come across this area. It was beautiful. Camping is where its at! The sky was so dark we could see the milkyway clearly. Eli had some fun dirtbiking around on some trails.

The Grand Tetons, from the wheat fields of Idaho.

Dropping into Jackson,Wyoming!

We ate dinner on Taylor and Erik's back patio, while the sunset. It was really pretty

Eli with Easson a first time meeting!

Charlie(Eli's brother) and Celeste (Charlie's girlfriend) joined us for a trip up to White Sulpher Springs, to see where my favorite Red Ants pants came from!

Eli, in front of an experiemental house he designed (it looks a lot cooler on the other side!)

We camped out, near Sulpher Springs, where the houses that Eli designed were. This camp spot goes on my top ten list of spots. We had a spectacular view of the valley down below and of lightning storms moving across the sky!
